Dana Martin

Chief Marshal

Dana Lloyd Martin began her career with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office in 1997, advancing through successive leadership roles to Major of Headquarters Operations, where she oversaw the Office of Professional Standards Internal Affairs Unit and the Administrative Services Division, including Accounting, Budgeting, Human Resources, Central Records, National Accreditation and State Certification, Recruitment, Quartermaster, and Property and Evidence.

 

She retired in 2020 after 23 years of service to assume the role of Cherokee County Public Services Agency Director, responsible for the Marshal’s Office, Animal Shelter, Emergency Management Agency, Probation Services, Radio Technology, and Cherokee E 911. In 2024, she was appointed Chief Marshal of Cherokee County while maintaining her broader agency responsibilities.

 

Chief Martin holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Class 255), the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange 25th Delegation to Israel, the IACP Women’s Leadership Institute, Columbus State University’s Professional Management Program, and Leadership Cherokee (Class of 2006).

 

Through her leadership, she is committed to fostering innovation, operational efficiency, and strong interagency collaboration while upholding the professionalism and values that define Cherokee County’s success.
