On March 11, 2020, the Cherokee Marshal's Office honored Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit District Attorney, Shannon Wallace, for her great partnership with Law Enforcement.

On June 19, 2018, the Cherokee Marshal's Office was recognized by the Yaarab Shriners Organization for the Outstanding Service to their organization and its charitable fundraising activities.

On June 20, 2017, the Animal Shelter staff received the Chief's Commendation Award for their dedication and outstanding service to the citizens of Cherokee County.

The Animal Control division consist on six officers. This division is under the supervision of Sergeant McMullen.

The Code Enforcement division consist on ten sworn officers, including Chief Hunton.
